It is paramount to me that all transportation is done safety and effectively. Having a background, piloting aircrafts, I have an inherent sense of prioritization. When it comes to navigation, trip planning, fuel, performance limitations, emergency procedures and the importance of preventative maintenance, you're in good hands!
Here are a couple things that are good to know and that you might find interesting!
Radar
Having the boat equipped with a 4G radar, drastically increases situational awareness, whilst not exposing passengers on deck to microwave radiation commonly found on older radar systems.
Navigating, especially at night or in dense fog, can now be executed with confidence, even if another boat doesn't have their lights on at night (happens way too often), I can see them and their trajectory to easily avoid them. This radar will even pick up on birds, floating logs and buoys! I have found, although rare, some buoys have been misplaced by over 100ft, very dangerous! Even with GPS navigational charts, this could be devastating, if hit whilst underway. Radar is a game changer, I would never do without it again!
GPS Nautical Chart
Have I mentioned this already? haha. I do love using the charts from Navionics. It allows me to augment my situational awareness, plan trips, calculate my fuel burn, determine obstacles and track my route for billing purposes.
Lifejackets (PFDs)
We have you covered. All PFDs are located in the cabin. If you wish, you can chose to bring your own also.
Lifebuoy
Those large pumpkin looking donuts? Yeah, we have one secured out on the deck, on the front of the cabin door.
Briefing
Before any departure, I will brief all passengers on the the importance of weight and balance, location of all emergency exits and life saving devices onboard. I will also instruct and set expectations for the trip based on the weather and other potential condition and factors.

Have an absolutely wonderful winter!
